This home began with a clear vision
wood, Japanese influences, and warmth.
But we wanted to take it further.
Rather than recreating a familiar interpretation of Japanese interiors, we wondered what those elements might become once they were allowed to settle naturally into everyday life.
So we kept the warmth of wood, but loosened the sense of rigid order. We preserved the quiet restraint of Japanese design, while introducing touches of vintage character, subtle playfulness, and colors that felt a little less expected.
Different shades of timber unfold throughout the space, softened by warm whites and tactile fabrics. Then, almost like a sudden change in tone, an orange-red lounge chair enters the scene—giving an otherwise calm composition a distinct sense of personality.
We love this kind of imperfect balance.
Because real life is never made of just one color, nor does a home remain forever as pristine as the day it was completed.
Someone stays on the sofa a little longer than planned. Objects gradually find their way onto the table. Afternoon sunlight travels across the room, slowly losing its brightness and becoming softer as the day moves on.
And somewhere within these small, ordinary changes, the rhythm of the home begins to reveal itself.
For this project, “Japanese style” was never meant to be the answer.
It was simply where the story began.
From the homeowners’ original vision, new ideas emerged through conversation. As construction progressed, details were revisited, refined, and sometimes reconsidered entirely once they took physical form.
Some things followed the original plan.
Others found better answers along the way.
What emerged in the end was no longer a home defined by any single style, but a place where quietness carries a hint of playfulness, and warmth is given room for character.
We named it EVENFALL.
The light grows softer.
The timber deepens in tone.
The noise of the day recedes, and the subtle sounds of home begin to surface.
It simply means there is no longer anywhere to rush to.
As daylight drifts toward evening, life finds its own unhurried pace.
When the door closes behind you,
time no longer asks you to hurry.
Home moves to a rhythm of its own
